What happens when God doesn't speak in the way we anticipate? What if, instead of speaking, He acts?
I had an encounter in June 2023, and I thought to share it to encourage someone.
On the night of June 17th, 2023, I was burdened with questions that demanded urgent answers. I felt if I didn’t get a quick response, I might make a costly mistake that could alter the trajectory of my life. I have never heard God speak audibly, I usually do whatever my instinct says - which I believe is the Holy Spirit speaking. But what happens when there’s a battle raging in your mind? That still small voice ( that speaks through my instincts ) could'nt be heard. My mind wasn’t at peace, I couldn’t hear my instincts, so I was left with only one option: “I must hear God audibly today.”
Two days earlier, I had started reading the New Testament from a book called The Messiah, I really loved the translation used there, so I started with 1st Corinthians. When the battles in my mind started that night , I remembered one of Apostle Iren's sermons where he said ‘ how can you hear God when your bible is closed? I opened it to continue from where I stopped, I then convinced my self that this book - 2nd Corinthians doesn’t have the answers to my questions 😂. I closed it, kept crying, and said “ God you must talk tonight 😂” till I slept off, baba didn’t speak.
Sunday, 18th June, I saw God act, not speak! And in that single act, I found the answers to my questions. Going back to my Journal, I saw that the book of Corinthians actually had words that would have encouraged me that night, and reduced the burdens of my heart - Importance of a detailed bible study. I wrote every striking word I saw while reading past, so when I didn’t feel like reading my bible, I should have gone back to my journal to look at the things I wrote down while studying, it would have made all the difference. “So I don’t look at the troubles I see now ; rather , I fix my gaze on things that cannot be seen, for the things I see now will soon be gone, but the things I cannot see will last forever” God encourages those who are discouraged “ My Grace is all you need, my power works best in your weakness" These were the things I had written during my Bible study that afternoon, but I didn’t return to them until I saw God’s ACT.🤭
Where am I heading at? God doesn’t only speak, he acts as well! When seeking to hear him, we must also ask for a discerning spirit so we can recognize His answers through actions. As Christians, we often get frustrated because we expect Him to follow a stereotype we are used to, but He doesn’t work that way!
I don’t know who this is for, but I urge you to take that positive Act as his response to your questions, yes, he works that way too!
a whisper. a word.or a powerful act .

I love this, asking the holy Spirit for discernment is key , God give me the grace to know when my answers have come.
